As we are transitioning into distance learning, the Athletics department has had several questions concerning the spring sports season. Our athletic programs will resume when school is back into session. The return to school date is April 6th, students can start back to practice. The first games can not begin until students have 14 days of practices. So that would make the first day that we could possibly have games would be April 10th. Therefore, all of our games, matches and tournaments have been canceled through April 10th. In speaking with area Athletic Directors, we are holding off on rescheduling games until we can talk and decide what is best for our schools and our conference. MSHSAA has stated that all athletes must make 14 practices in order to compete and there is every intent on having the State Championships for spring sports.
The department will be sending out practice programs and our coaching staff has and will be reaching out to our athletes. Unfortunately, we can not hold organized practices and school facilities are closed. These programs will be designed so that students can progress in their conditioning for games.
Our Athletic Trainer, Ashley Jenkins, is still working with Athletes for treatment to recover from injuries. If you have questions, please contact her.
It is still vitally important for our student athletes to perform in the classroom. This semester will determine their fall eligibility and help determine our students eligibility at the next level.
Our virtual office hours will be 8:00am to noon and available by phone from noon to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday. Please contact us to schedule an appointment if you would like to speak with us if those hours do not work.
We thank you for your patience in these uncertain and trying times. We will keep you up to date as information presents itself.
